Wednesday, April 17th, 2002 - Stone Soup Movement - a Community The first meeting of Stone Soup began at 1 p.m. at Personal Expressions. Attending were: Kent Anderson, Susan Foster, Kaye Gmur, Randa Gabel, Kellie Engelke, Bret Russell, Patricia Russell, and Jackie Zimmermann.

Based on Randa Gabel's observation that the Stone Soup Supper has generated a large volume of interest, she felt that more should become of it. An initial mission statement reflects, "the New Glarus community is dedicated to supporting our residents and neighbors who are facing health-care crises through fundraisers and volunteerism to ease the burden of inadequate health insurance."

A web site is currently connected to www.newglarus.org. A visit to the site will provide a variety of choices for the viewer to pursue.

The next step decided upon is to meet with Mark Webster of Tammy Baldwin's office to gather additional support and further information. An immediate goal is to develop a Stone Soup Town Meeting to provide education and a forum to New Glarus. Following the meeting with Webster, additional plans will be made.

A good beginning for an important cause.
