| Fire Fighters in New Glarus are very well-trained.We are fortunate to have 36 people donate a great deal of time to learning how to rescue people and put out fires. Every fire fighter must take at least 60 hours of training just to get near a fire. Most of them take every training opportunity they can and have spent hundreds of hours learning how to do things safer, faster and better. We train with other area fire departments and get to know each other so that when we roll out of bed at 2am and meet at a burning building we function effectively as a team. Most fires I have been to involved Belleville, Monticello, Verona, Mount Horeb, Blooming Grove, Brooklyn and others. We don't play politics, we cooperate. Here I will try to give you a starting point for the fire training I am able to document. You won't normally see me in any pictures, as I am taking them. They are also frequently after all patients are loaded or fires put out. Sometimes I am lucky enough to have Pattie take some while things are actually going on. Please note that these pages contain many images and may take some time to load on a dial-up connection. I know I can make them smaller, but I don't want to.
